  4. Intestinal lining: The cells lining the small intestine, known as enterocytes, produce additional enzymes like peptidases and dipeptidases. These enzymes further break down the peptides into single amino acids, which are small enough to be absorbed into the bloodstream.

  5. Absorption: Amino acids are transported through the intestinal lining into the bloodstream. From there, they are transported to various tissues and organs throughout the body for building and repairing proteins.

  6. Large intestine: Any undigested protein or amino acids not absorbed in the small intestine move into the large intestine. Here, some bacterial fermentation may occur, leading to the production of gases and other by-products.
